Sincewhen Charles Hart Junior High became the first school in Washington to have an extra-curricular creative writing program, the Workshop’s writers-in-residence have introduced thousands of students to the joys of self-expression and the written word, opening for them a world of opportunity that exists outside of the historically neglected area in which they live.

While continuing to serve Hart, now a middle school, the Workshop expanded creative writing course washington dc programs in to neighboring Ballou High School and Simon Elementary. O ur youth created a documentary about Writing Club, their fifteenth original play or film. Creative Writing Institute

Creative Writing Workshop films here. They won first and second place and two honorable mentions in teen poetry, as well as first and third place and two honorable mentions in youth poetry. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.


Thirteen winners in the Parkmont Poetry Contest were ours. In the Junior League Youth Poetry Contest, our writiing won first place for both 6th and 7th grades and another won honorable mention in the 7th grade competition. Those seven were creative writing course washington dc only neighborhood public school students to win.

You’ll have opportunities to experiment with innovative forms of creative writing while also generating and polishing a wealth of new poems, stories, and personal essays. Remarkably, twelve of the twenty winners in the Middle School category were our students from Creative writing course washington dc Middle School.

In the Junior League Youth Poetry Contest, one of our students won the 6th grade citywide award and four other children won honorable mentions in the creative writing course washington dc and 8th rc competitions. During each school year, Workshop students take field trips to see plays at the Arena Stage and one at the Shakespeare Theatre. All fields are required.
